@WHO included it in the latest progress report on the #SAFER initiative on alcohol policy.

Following the inaugural multi-sectoral meeting to do with the #NACPOfUanda we were part of @WHOUganda in June , we have convened @OPMUganda this morning for a follow-up meeting.
A good roll of feedback was made by a number of stakeholders - ranging from who has started implementing what, how far with developing a framework for a multi-sectoral response to the prevention of alcohol harm in Uganda among others.
We've had representation from @MinofHealthUG , our Secretariat, @WHOUganda , @URAuganda , @UgandaCancerIns , @StateHouseUg , @Educ_SportsUg , @UncdaUg among others.
We look forward to our future endeavours.

Le modèle togolais suscitait donc un intérêt croissant au-delà des frontières.

Après 13 ans, la #SAFER cède la place à la #SONAFIR. Le diagnostic officiel est clair : des insuffisances structurelles ont limité la mobilisation des ressources face à des besoins croissants.
La réforme introduit deux ruptures majeures :
Diversification des instruments de financement
Séparation entre financement (SONAFIR) et maîtrise d'ouvrage (#AGEROUTE TOGO)
Une architecture inspirée des bonnes pratiques sectorielles. L'exécution dira si le cadre tient ses promesses.

Alcohol harm is not inevitable. It is shaped by the policies that countries choose, and it can be reduced.
On 26 June 2026, @WHO launches Implementing what works in #alcohol policy: progress report on the #SAFER initiative, a stocktake of progress since 2018 in implementing the Global Alcohol Action Plan 2022–2030.
The measures that reduce alcohol harm are well established: pricing, controls on availability, #marketing restrictions, action on drink–driving, and screening and brief advice. The hard part is putting them in place and keeping them there.
This launch is built to show that work, not just describe it. In a 90-minute webinar, four countries set out, on an equal footing, what implementing alcohol policy really looks like, including the obstacles and the industry pressure they meet along the way:
Uganda 🇺🇬 is bringing alcohol #policy across government, and introducing alcohol screening and brief advice into routine primary care.
Nepal 🇳🇵 shows how civil society and the courts upheld a national #ban on alcohol #advertising in 2023, backed by a volunteer monitoring network.
Ireland 🇮🇪 is bringing one of the world's most comprehensive alcohol #laws to life in 10 communities, reaching around 190 000 people.
Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 is building a national delivery platform, supported by a @UNDP investment case that brings finance and health together.
A dedicated session draws out what these countries are learning from one another, before the formal launch of the report.
The webinar is open to Member States, partners, civil society organizations, researchers and others working on alcohol policy and the prevention of #NCDs noncommunicable diseases.

From Parade Ground to Public Roads: NCC Cadets Lead the Road Safety Movement
In a significant step towards building a #safer #India, approximately 75 #NCC cadets participated in a #Traffic #Awareness #Programme organized by the #Vadodara #Police #Department in collaboration with other #civil #agencies. The initiative was aimed at promoting responsible road behaviour and supporting the #Government of India's NH-48
#ZeroFatalityCorridor mission under the vision of #ViksitBharat.
The programme was inaugurated by Member of Parliament Dr. Hemang Joshi, in the presence of #MLA Dharmendrasinh Vaghela and the Commissioner of Police IPS Narasimha Komar, Vadodara, who emphasized the collective responsibility of #citizens in preventing road accidents and #savinglives.
Around 50 NCC cadets from 2 Naval Unit NCC and 3 Gujarat Battalion NCC, accompanied by one Permanent Instructor (#PI) from each unit, actively participated in the event. The awareness session highlighted the importance of strict adherence to #traffic #regulations, responsible driving practices, and the #mandatory use of #helmets while riding two-wheelers.
As a mark of their commitment to road safety, all participating cadets took a solemn Traffic Safety #Pledge, vowing to become #responsible, #disciplined, and #law-abiding citizens who will inspire others to follow traffic rules and contribute towards #accidentfree #roads.
The programme reinforced the NCC's role in nation-building by empowering young cadets to become ambassadors of road safety and active contributors to India's vision of a safer and more #developed #nation.
