Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh: People take to streets at midnight in protest against action on Shahi Masjid
In Ujjain, local residents came out onto the streets at midnight as authorities moved ahead with a proposed action to remove a part of the nearly 100-year-old Shahi Masjid for road widening. A large number of people gathered at the site, protested the action, and demanded that the mosque be saved.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court has approved the removal of a portion of the mosque for the road-widening project. This action is being carried out ahead of the 2028 Simhastha Kumbh, citing public safety, traffic management, and public interest.
