@WillOspreay Shame you have all that talent and such lack of interest weekly from the stats when it comes to Viewers π #StatsFail #ViewersNeedMore
You have to admire this brazen attempt to mislead readers who don't investigate this arrant nonsense further. ποΏ½οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½πΌββοΈ#statsfail
Oh, and for those wondering about excess deaths - yeah, these don't show anything different either. Sweden having the highest cumulative excess deaths.

1. "Statistically significant" has a specific meaning, and that meaning is not "based on a large sample".
2. A very large sample size does not protect against bias (obviously!).

@elonmusk With 116.6 million followers, your polls are starting to become statistically significant. What if Twitter had an "All Users" poll that you could push to every single twitter account to find out what the entire network is thinking, with no particular adverse selection? π€
@sperk44 @hughhewitt Not to mention a ridiculously insufficient sample size and, I'm taking a wild stab here as I refuse to read this junk, selection bias? My high school stats students know better. #statstwitter #statsfail
#R can be pretty harsh, but I don't think I've ever had it straight up tell me my data are bad before. Brutal. #StatsFail #Coding

@OttawaCitizen The sample size was 1542. The headline in the tweet implies the sample size is reflective of the overall views of the entire population #statsfail
Ok, maybe we can all share some #statsfail stories to make @PHE_uk feel better? I once spent 6 months analysing a partial dataset cos the CD Iβd been sent through the post (I know that ages me) had a tiny scratch on and the programme had just stopped downloading it 3/4 through.
Seriously, how can this have happened? Iβve made some stats and data errors in my time, but this is a real stinker. Flabbergasted. https://t.co/dclepCYorR
In the end the SQA managed to achieve what they tried so hard to avoid unmoderated grade inflation, questions being asked about the validity this years grades and politicisation of exams. A massive disservice to Scotlandβs young people. #statsfail 5/5
States where physicians are highly paid have lower Covid-19 mortality per capita.

I have a theory that flawed papers that meet reviewers' confirmation biases are more likely to get through. Here is one data point: a paper that finds support for #facecoverings. #StatsFail.
A warning on pandemic science (short thread): Yesterday a paper in @PNASNews got media traction, claiming incredible efficacy for masks against COVID19. It was however a complete garbage fire & is already facing calls for retraction. How bad are we talking? REALLY bad... (1/n)
Tried to create a simple example of a decision tree classifying cakes vs biscuits. Concluded that the data point to a vanilla slice actually being a biscuit. #rstats #statsfail

They have me +67 Republican. I guess that means I'm really and truly not typical of straight white married Baptists who have never been in a labor union. #statsfail.
Second question held me up: Is religion important in your life? I've only spent my entire life studying it. It's vitally important. But I think they want to know if I'm religious, so I said "no." https://t.co/DkDC0kvefi
