BREAKING: THIS MORNING PUSKA'S LEAGAL TEAM ACCUSE PRESIDING JUDGE OF COMMENTS THAT COULD INFLUENCE THE OUTCOME OF THE CASE The Irish Inquiry was in attendance at the #AshlingMurphy trial this morning. Judge #TonyHunt addressed the court after he was criticised by the Defence for overstepping his power. The judge stated (with the jury present), that he "had a clear right to make comment" (based on fact, not supposition) and that this, in no way, could be construed as having any impact on the deliberation process of the jury, nor the verdict they reach. Expressing annoyance at the Defence team, he further stated to the court that, "No part of my function is to create an equilibrium that does not exist" and that he "could have pointed out that the defence was threadbare in this case, which it is" and that he was "sorely tempted to" [point that out]. He was referring to the accusation of the defence team that a more balanced picture had not been presented. The jury of 9 men and 3 women were present in court to receive trial transcripts that they have requested. They were discharged to deliberate at 10.53 am. The judge advised them to break for lunch at around 1pm and advised them to then deliberate until 4pm. He said that if deliberation continues past that time, he will call a halt at 4.30pm, and will instruct that deliberations continue at 10.30 am tomorrow if a verdict has not been reached.
