Today, December 14th, 2023, marks a day etched in both grief and hope for the Kuki-Zo communities of NE India. After months of agonizing wait, the air finally lifts not just sorrow, but the bodies of our beloved martyrs, back to their ancestral lands in Lamka and Kangpokpi.
Since the state-sponsored ethnic cleansing of May 3rd, our hearts have bled, yearning for a semblance of closure. Today, the mournful winds carry not just tears, but whispers of justice. We remember their innocent lives cut short, their dreams forever unfurled. But amidst the sorrow, a flicker of hope ignites.
The return of our martyrs is not just a final journey, but a promise. A promise to carry their torch, to echo their voices, to ensure their sacrifices are not in vain.
We will rise from the ashes of their loss, stronger and more united, demanding justice and a future free from violence, subjugation, discrimination, attempted annihilation.
Lamka, Kanggui and all Kuki-Zo tribal inhabited hills, sacred lands of our ancestors, will once again embrace their sons and daughters. Let our ancestral lands cradle them gently, let their spirits guide us towards a brighter dawn.
Their sacrifice will forever be etched in our hearts, a testament to the enduring spirit of the Kuki-Zo people. Let this day not be just of mourning, but of remembrance, of resilience.
Let it be a day that binds us closer, a day that fuels our fight for justice, a day that whispers, "Never again."
May their souls find eternal peace, and may their memory forever guide us on the path of truth and justice.
