With the ACC working to close the $ gap with the SEC/B1G, the Big 12 seems to have no choice but further expansion if they want to keep up. Commissioner Yormark has stated he'd like to see the conf. become the premier CBB conf in the nation, but what form could this take? The easiest plug & plays remain Wazzu/OSU, both have solid FB programs & Wazzu BB is currently the best team in the Pac 12 and ranked #21. The Big 12 could go after UConn & SDSU. The Huskies were heavily rumored to be next in line for the Big 12 & SDSU fancies themselves P4 ready but was burned by the Pac 12. Both programs are annual national contenders. The combinations get increasingly random now. Gonzaga & the Big 12 have been in talks for years now but the Zags can't seem to pull the trigger. Out east, Temple bring the Philly market, a top 25 historical BB program, & a Big East rival for Cincy/WVU/UCF Lastly are two really good FB & BB programs in Boise & Memphis. Both deserve a shot at the P4 but likely neither will get it. Obviously you can mix these scenarios in any combination, plus other candidates exist (USF, Tulane, UNLV, Fresno, CSU, UNM).
