This evening I received a call from Timothy Emerson at We Heart Seattle as part of his incredible boots-on-the-ground efforts. While working in an encampment, he came across a young girl with her baby. Recognizing the urgency, he called our intake line right away.
Within 30 minutes, we confirmed that we had space available and were able to welcome this vulnerable young mother and her child into safety. Within the hour, they arrived at our crisis center, where they were met with care, compassion, and security.
We Heart Seattle has recently partnered with The More We Love to access our crisis beds when immediate needs arise, and tonight was a powerful example of what is possible when two organizations come together to collaborate. These connections allow us to reach more people in moments of crisis and create meaningful change within our communities.
A heartfelt thank you to We Heart Seattle for recognizing the work that needs to be done, and to The More We Love team for stepping up without hesitation to keep this young woman and her baby safe.
Together we are making a difference, one life, one family, and one act of love at a time.

I think my favorite part of this series by @HeySamCampbell so far is how he devoted an ENTIRE SEGMENT to give #WeHeartSeattle a chance to share their platform.
THEN, like a good journalist does, he asked the difficult questions instead of creating a commercial for a grassroots organization not affiliated with any official entity.
I especially enjoy the parts where he talked to legitimate people from legitimate homeless service organizations and also an actual unhoused person. I feel like some people may have skipped that part of the story, but itโs there!!
