𝟐𝟏𝐒𝐓 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐒𝐀 𝐌𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐅 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐈𝐆𝐍 𝐀𝐅𝐅𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐒 𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐖𝐀𝐘 𝐈𝐍 𝐌𝐓 𝐇𝐀𝐌𝐏𝐃𝐄𝐍 The 21st Meeting of the COMESA Ministers of Foreign Affairs is underway at the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden, as part of the high-level engagements ahead of tomorrow's 25th COMESA Summit of Heads of State and Government. The meeting brings together Ministers responsible for Foreign Affairs from the 21 Member States of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) to deliberate on regional cooperation, integration and the implementation of the bloc’s programmes and policies. The COMESA Council of Ministers is the regional organisation’s second-highest policy-making organ, mandated to oversee its general functioning and guide the implementation of decisions aimed at advancing regional integration and economic development. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Hon. Prof. dr. Amon Murwira, is the incoming Chair of the Council of Ministers, as Zimbabwe prepares to assume the Chairmanship of COMESA at tomorrow’s Summit. Zimbabwe’s anticipated leadership comes at a critical time in advancing the regional integration agenda, strengthening intra-regional trade, promoting investment and enhancing cooperation among Member States towards shared prosperity. The engagements reaffirm COMESA’s commitment to building a more integrated, competitive and prosperous region through collective action and strengthened economic cooperation.
