Just a reminder that EOI's for #COGGO research funding in 2026 are due by 5pm next Friday 4 July. R&D projects targeting any part of the WA grain supply chain will be considered. This year the COGGO Board will especially welcome EOI's that seek to improve the testing of starch quality of cereal grains (improving on the current falling number test.) https://t.co/h5gejXuLrM

Measured NUE (rubbery until there’s grain in the bag!) in-season causing a bit of a stir in a very wet year. Great outcomes from this 2 year investment with #COGGO. Wheat yields to come. TLDR Plant numbers = N NUE

As sampling starts for another year of RnD, time to reflect on the last 12m of GSA. This flagship project has been and still is an absolute pleasure to build, watch and unveil. <200mm >4t yield >90% NUE Sustainability IS farming systems, it is profitability. #COGGO #YFIG

This little passion project shedding light on N behaviours and impacts on cropping systems in a MRZ deep sand. Also providing management strategies to monitor and make decisions based on N movement and availability. Input N losses likely much worse than we expect. #COGGO #YFIG

Seriously fascinating soil moisture curves in the #COGGO #YFIG soil nitrogen project. N is producing more water consuming canopy, but increased canopy is improving water infiltration away from the evaporative surface. Canopy production is critical to harvest small rain events.

Sampling day at the #yfig #COGGO nitrogen trial. Some plot differences already showing up for N leaching and capture in a below average year. When it come to fertiliser, efficient is sustainable, and inefficient can be costly. Worth being on the front foot with #awkward #truths

Soil moisture starting to really head the wrong direction in the mid west region. Fingers crossed the forecasters are wrong and there is some relief soon for local crops. Nitrogen strategies really starting to show up on soil probes. #coggo #YFIG 🤞

A day with #YFIG having lots of big discussions about legumes, risk and profitable grain production. More interesting discussions to come @katfleay @belindaeastough @RobCamp11 #COGGO and @GGA_WA getting a run on the agenda

Collecting data is one thing, but looking and understanding data is the single most important part. #COGGO data collection well and truly underway with the crop getting sown yesterday by @Living_Farm What can we learn from a good dataset across a whole 2 years?

Two sample timings showing a very good story about how soil moisture will drive soil nitrogen down the profile. Even after a considerably dry summer, it doesn’t take much. Difference is a single 40mm rain event in autumn. This #COGGO soil nitrogen project has got more to give

Compare the pair Living farm going above and beyond to make this Soil Nitrogen project a success. Dial in 40mm of isolated storms over a single treatment as a negative control for soil N supply ! Maybe this will make it rain ?? 🌾💦 #YFIG @Living_Farm @katfleay #COGGO

With ❄️ season upon us growers who have collected rain water samples for me are reminded to start collecting again. @FaceyGroup @garyjlang_lang @ChloeTurner83 @ConsultAg. DM if you need more vials. #frostyfun #COGGO

Trying to work out why rain before ❄️⬆️ damage. Applying dose response ice nucleators to canopy to ⬆️ ❄️ damage. Farmers won’t like it but us researchers need tools to ⬆️ ❄️ damage to better understand it. Sorry ⁦⁦@kentonp_ag⁩ no pic of the sterile water control. #COGGO

Exciting results from @DPIRDbroadacre ❄️ lab on a chilly morning. Crop residues are very good ice nucleators initiating freezing @ -3to5 degC as well as our +ve control. 🤞 will lead to better ❄️ stubble management recommendations than 🔥. #frostyfun #COGGO.
