Was just in a small Udupi restaurant. A big, very noisy group came in and filled up all tables including where I was sitting.
A woman talked in Tamil to me.
"Tamil ila", I said, "Hindi samajhte hain?" No, but a man came over, "I speak Hindi. How do you know Hindi?"
"I learnt it"... and then explained to him in Hindi that Hindi and Sanskrit is much easier to learn for all Indian children than English..."
