Students decided the consequence for missing a deadline would be to write an apology (and still submit the work). I think there’s also something in their contracts about donuts, but so far no one has triggered that clause.

Those of you afraid #ungrading and #contractgrading will result in grade inflation: half my class under-evaluated themselves though the contract terms were explicit. (Don't worry, I upgraded them.) Students are usually honest and even harsh in their self-evaluations.

#ContractGrading was 2much upkeep on my end, but now I use #ungrading which still offers flexibility & choice w/o stress on me.
