Electricity rate hike starting April 1st is not a result of a global crisis, but a direct consequence of internal mismanagement and the multi-billion rupee Coal Procurement Scam.
While the public is forced to pay up to 25% more, the real 'System Error' lies in the lack of transparency in coal tenders. We are essentially paying a 'Corruption Tax' for a crisis that could have been avoided with competitive bidding and a liberalized energy market.
It is time to look beyond the slogans of 'System Change' and demand accountability for the procurement failures that are now being billed to the average citizen.
