-Estimated completion date was 2020; as of 2024, zero passengers have been transported and the majority has not even been fully designed

This is now the fifth CEO of CA High-Speed Rail. They have built one bridge to nowhere in 16 years and are still short $100 billion. The NY Times says they won't finish this century.
Congress has opened an investigation into this monstrosity.

Since California is broke, the High-Speed Rail Authority wants $8-$10 billion from the Rainy Day Fund for the measly Merced-Bakersfield line.
