Episode One of “Lanterns” is just more DECONSTRUCTIONIST SLOP nobody needs in their life. It opens with profane black kids in the ’90s watching Hal Jordan on “60 Minutes.” They make sure we know Hal’s father DIED in a plane crash. A black military dad teaches his son not to fear death by shooting an apple off his head. Fast-forward to 2016: that kid is grown up and now partners with Hal Jordan. Naturally, they turn Hal into a toxic asshole who drops F-bombs, bickers with his partner and calls Earth a “shithole planet.” He even says he only occasionally wears the Green Lantern suit because it’s a “pain in the ass.” Then we meet the TINY FEMALE SHERIFF, who introduces herself by screaming over the radio: “You FUCKING kidding me? Tell him to stay on the FUCKING sidelines with that other FUCKING shithead.” It only gets better. She later calls Stewart a shithead, drops more F-bombs, and eventually lectures him about why he shouldn't respect Hal. A FEMALE JUDGE then gangs up on Hal with the FEMALE SHERIFF. Meanwhile, Black Lantern Stewart has interracial sex in a truck with a WHITE WOMAN who just happens to be the sheriff’s mother-in-law. Hal deliberately gets himself beaten up and arrested so he can interrogate a prisoner instead of simply using his superpowers to walk through the wall. And by the end of the episode, which jumps to the present day, the WHITE LANTERN IS DEAD. And that's when I realized: IM NOT PUTTING MYSELF THROUGH ANY MORE OF THIS SLOPAGANDA! This isn't Green Lantern. It's just more culture pollution. I’m out.
