Finally done with simultaneously covering @FERC and @PUCTX today. Both issued landmark moves on #largeload issues critical to the nation's capacity to strengthen our power grids and support national security and investment signaling for #AI. @NathanForTexas you're correct in questioning that loads could get incented to shown up with oversized gen. That's the "G-1" design (PUN+) for speed to power we're writing in ERCOT for June. That's also the *outcome* of Provisional CLRs which privately firm power needs and bring gen with them to do so- I filed the first version of this as PGRR134 & ERCOT has committed best efforts to merge it into its June package for Batch Zero.
@LoisKolkhorst correctly points out the gas gen price signal situation is ridiculous. Passing CLR & BYOG both - creates a new hyperscaler/LL incentive to *price and pay for new power gen* to simply exist near load, so gen can solve constraints faster and load can power billions of dollars of compute revenue. gives them an opportunity to connect and manage before their paid-for firm upgrades come; this will substantiate the actual transmission upgrades bc MWs will get sold to loads faster than the fixed costs rise to build more lines. They can't ghost the system and they can't ghost ratepayers.

I think we are officially headed towards a future where inferencing facilities that are co-located with utility substations are direct competitors to energy storage systems doing the same thing.
