I've added several extra slides to the end of my #MathsConf16 PowerPoint that is being emailed out. I hope that these give enough detail to answer the queries some teachers had about using bar models for fractions and mixed numbers. The Singapore textbooks are precise on this.

#MathsConf16 yesterday we were encouraged to 'ditch the tricks' in Maths teaching. When does a technique become a trick?
This was the tweet that resonated with me over the summer. "Ask me a question about this" is a small but impactful change that has added depth and value to the conversations in my Maths class. @mrbartonmaths #MathsConf16
Two years ago, I was saying โdo you have any questions?โ. Last year I switched to โwhat questions do you have?โ It made a difference. Today I tried โask me two questionsโ. And they did! And those ?s led to more ?s. It amazes me that the littlest things have such a big impact!

Really enjoyed my first time presenting at #MathsConf16 and great workshops from @mrgraymath @naveenfrizvi @maths180. Keynote from @mrbartonmaths gave me lots to think about again especially the proofs. Didnโt get to the end of my presentation so hereโs the last slide!
