@ShriramKMurthi @cchmagyar @UmichCompFor The context was one professor arguing that what I was doing in #MediaComp was unethical. He argued that society needs excellent programmers far more than it needs liberal arts and sciences students who know programming. So I was wasting precious CS teaching resources.
@roneglash @MikeByrneHFHCI When I was building #MediaComp, I struggled with the CS obsession with sorting. I addressed algorithmic complexity issues with blurring and scaling up/down pictures and digital video special effects. Why does CS1 have to be about sorting on a linear scale?

@hummus_monster @shuchig @chrispiech @EnginBumbacher One of the nice things about #mediaComp (Media computation) is that mistakes are still interesting. If you do the wrong transformation on your image, you still get a new filtered image — and sometimes it’s a better filter than the one you were trying to make.
