#Mesoanalysis: There’s your convergence signal along the east coast. Low level easterly flow, mid-level SWrly flow and upwind propagation vector out of the west. Combined with coastline friction thanks to a juiced up wind gradient and there’s the back building/training potential.

The synoptic pattern favors an MCS evolving Saturday night and progressing into the Ohio Valley early Sunday. This would complicate afternoon convective potential making for yet another example of the importance of near-term #mesoanalysis to refine the timing/coverage/hazards.
Days like today in the eastern Texas Panhandle are where #mesoanalysis shows its value. SPC provides solid guidance (re: https://t.co/CYAlOWt4cL), but there is room to further downscale at the local level.

One of the best forecasting and #mesoanalysis learning tools is simply comparing satellite imagery to soundings (model soundings when observed soundings aren’t available). Here are a few basic examples just from today:
Stable HCRs visible on sat just south of warm front, ahead of uncapped airmass near triple point. As capping erodes in green area, anticipate rapid tstm development in 1-2 hrs. Warm front trending notably south compared to CAMs. Highest🌪 risk along/s of this bndry. #mesoanalysis
You can see how challenging these events can be for hi-res models. HREF-mean severely underestimated amounts. But, it is always worth looking at the ensemble maximum. Even though the false alarm area is high you can focus on the magnitudes and refine the area via #mesoanalysis.
