@jeffjarvis @DougJBalloon Peter Baker is declared an apolitical reporter. This coverage reads as based on judgment; by NYT sanctimonious standards should be labeled as opinion. Of course, it’s the judgment of an editor — adding another buttress to the unequivocal structural need for an NYT #PublicEditor.

@KaylaEpstein @EmGusk Elimination of the #Ombudsman or #PublicEditor was short-sighted, sometimes arrogant. The best of them were a strong, trusted reciprocal channel between readers, reporters and editors — and an alert to the publisher.

@nytimes What IS it with your headlines? Who (or what) writes them? Why have they gotten so awful (over the last few years). WHY do they pass editorial muster? WHY is there still no #PublicEditor who can answer these questions?
