In addition to those named on the list, at least 553 people were killed in Kintobo sector, 127 in Gatovu, 120 in Rukoma and 114 in Runigi. ▶️Around the same time, 423 people were killed in neighbouring #Nyamutera commune; 123 of them were reportedly burned alive in houses that had been deliberately set on fire. 🚨⏩️These incidents form only a small part of the deliberate and arbitrary killings, massacres and extrajudicial executions of unarmed Hutu civilians carried out in Rwanda by soldiers of the Rwandan Patriotic Army (RPA). ⏺️⏩️The killings began within days of the return of the first wave of refugees from the former Zaire in November 1996 and were especially severe in the northwestern prefectures of #Ruhengeri and #Gisenyi.
