I really liked how the ending resolved some plot points, but didn't paint it as if the indigenous problems were all fixed now. Amazing action scenes with the Council & Co. and Minerva. I loved to read about this culture and see how important it is for personal identity. #sdsuYA

I have mixed emotions about the flashbacks that the book uses. For one the flashbacks show a sense of the culture being portrayed which thus gives us an extended understanding of the characters. However, confusion occurs at times causing disorganization in the book for me #sdsuYA
I find this book such an interesting twist on the usual apocalyptic setting. I want to know if it was a psychological effect caused by the Water Wars that caused people to lose their dreams, or if it was a physical phenomenon. #SdsuYA
The Marrow Thieves- Interpretation #1: it is written in the context of a dystopian future because Indigenous history & culture has often been branded as something that is "out of this world" or "not real." This "future" is really being used to portray their past history #sdsuYA

#sdsuYA Water is genrally used as a means of cleansing. Yet in “When the Moon was Ours” it seems to have the opposite effect. It’s not used as a way to clear away the past. Instead it’s used as a sign that that past never goes away. Water is the weight on the hem of a skirt.
