The National Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognizance of a shocking media report titled “Delhi horror: South Asian University student sexually assaulted by security guard and his 3 friends” wherein a female student of South Asian University (SAU), Delhi was allegedly sexually assaulted by a security guard, a staffer and two students inside the campus premises. The Chairperson, Smt. Vijaya Rahatkar, has written to the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, urging for an immediate, impartial, and sensitive investigation, protection of the survivor, and stringent action against the accused. The Commission has also sought an Action Taken Report within 3 days, reiterating that women’s safety within educational institutions is paramount and institutional accountability must be upheld at all levels. #suomotu @DelhiPolice

@PMOIndia An 18-year-old student was sexually assaulted inside the South Asian University campus, New Delhi. The administration tried to suppress the case, delayed FIR filing, and even tampered with evidence. How can a university meant for peace & cooperation become unsafe.
