We’re slowly moving away from a space that was primarily focused on the novelty of transacting JPEGs and generative art collectibles, with a heavy emphasis on charts and profits. Now, we’re entering a space where artists are using these peer to peer decentralized networks to create brand new artistic narratives outside the control of art institutions and big galleries. A big part of the core of this movement is art that doesn’t quite fit in a traditional white cube gallery, but somehow feels more at home in an environment that moves from laptop to laptop. To me, it feels like a warm virtual space where artists and collectors create, discuss, and collect from their sofas or kitchen tables outside the established white walls and traditional artists ateliers. It’s a new kind of shared digital space, and much of the art speaks about this place: where we connect, extend ourselves, and somehow manage to touch one another. Despite all the frustrations many have felt in the aftermath of the trading delirium of the past few years, to me, this is the beauty of what this space is becoming. Sometimes it's good to be aware of how unique and precious this is. It’s fresh. It’s just getting started. But it’s truly special to be part of this nascent, shared digital space.
