A nice update to the Arthur Wharton mural in Darlington ahead of tonight's game. Wharton was the first black professional footballer. The England squad will pass a statue of him at St George's Park as they leave for Wembley today. Born in Ghana, he had Scottish ancestry.
Today marks the birthday of a remarkable man - Arthur Wharton.
Widely considered the world’s first black professional footballer, we unveiled this statue in his honour @StGeorgesPark in October 2014.
