Happening this morning: Should adult adoptees be able to get their original #birthcertificates w/o restrictions? House Health Committee will ponder HB2600 in morning hearing. https://t.co/L8sPBkuNX5
My identity was altered by the government shortly after my birth, then they restricted my ability to access the original information, even as an adult. Am I a spy? Witness protection program? Criminal? No. Just adopted.
Question during constituent session. Adoptive parent wants original birth certificate. Adopted child wants to know original parent. Do original mother and father, married unmarried time of conception, right to privacy? Can birth mother be "outed" like it or not? What do you think
@MeemsAz@jlawrenceLD23 Actually, the number one concern expressed by women considering relinquishment is whether or not their child will be able to find them when they become an adult. Fortunately for those vulnerable young women, Ancestry DNA has eliminated any possibility of unwanted privacy.
@CardellaEmmie @jlawrenceLD23 Confidential from whom? What are your thoughts on this in relation to DNA testing services like Ancestry, 23 & Me, My Heritage, GedMatch, etc?
We started off the 2020 legislative session with 29 co-sponsors! HB2600 will restore adult adoptees right to access their original birth certificates. Let's keep the momentum going! https://t.co/O3cjJMrsSx
@MitziEpstein Hi - We are looking for bipartisan support on legislation that will allow adult adoptees to access their original birth certificates. 16 sponsors and counting - Rep Roberts has the bill on his desk. Would you consider signing on?
@MichelleUgenti Hi Senator - Would you consider signing on as cosponsor on a bill that will allow adult adoptees access to their original birth certificates? Rep Roberts has the bill on his desk - 16 sponsor so far!
Paul Petersen's scheme is remarkably similar to that of Georgia Tann; illustrating a continuing lack of oversight, transparency, and accountability in adoption. https://t.co/o6RzgPbf4W @jboehm_NEWS
Historical policies that sealed records and cloaked adoption in secrecy created the perfect environment for those (like Petersen) who would exploit mothers and babies for profit.
