@docib Out of interest, how do you ensure that other clinicians' learning opportunities are not impacted?
Sadly my experience of working in multiple departments (EDs and elsewhere) with PAs/ACPs/ACCPs is that this has always been a significant issue.
@Adam_Skeen@medicalmodelbri@HWSouthTyneside@HealthwatchE@gmcuk I've just tested this.
Physician Associate is not in the pre-populated list (Physician Assistant is).
But it was very easy to record it as free text. Recording Associate Physician was an active process that required clicking on it.
@juliaisobela I am a huge fan of second phone and second number
Get another email address too, be that https://t.co/mekT8nf6vt or a different gmail. You end up getting so many emails from colleges and other organisations. Not what I want to read when I'm off.
@KatPaton13@DrLukeCraddock@cmwilliams99 Have seen increases in both the number of applicants and the number of applications per applicant.
In 2018 2.68% of applicants made 4 or more applications, rising to 11.61% in 2024. These applicants accounted for 32.3% of applications.
78% made 2 or fewer applications.
@jbmc60@Dr_Done_ If I were your daughter, I would definitely share a copy of the confirmation email to the WhatsApp group and publicly ask for an apology
@Xeon4f145d96s1 Borrowed from Reddit.
32% of applications were made by 11.61% of applicants.
I think that restricting the number of applications an individual can make would be a sensible move. However, these data clearly show a doubling of the number of applicants since 2019.
@mattster@NutterAlic41590@lankeygrap13485@pa_StephenNash@Burnt2020@NavinaEvans People also conflate the operational leadership of when amiodarone is given with the strategic leadership of if the potential trajectories of the patient post ROSC.
A haematology registrar will have had ITU/cardiology/respiratory/... rotations and be placed to do the latter.
@medicalmodelbri Title inflation
I teach for the medical school I'm called a "clinical demonstrator"
I do some teaching for AHPs how to cannulate and I become a "bank assistant professor"
@UncleZubs This probably explains why the increase was so much greater in GP due to the shorter training programme.
As such, I suspect, the ~10% changes seen in most specialties is probably due to greater changes at the earlier stages of training.
@UncleZubs This is for all stages of training and not those entering training.
The RLMT was removed in 2021 and in 2021 we had various travel restrictions.
These data are up until 2023 (https://t.co/SoY3xkFiRl) so probably represents the effect of 1-3 application cycles.
@jabberwock951 Shhh, isn't this how we're meant to get our high impact publications?
Scoring systems that just add up the diagnostic criteria?
Even better when the scoring system just says "do you think they have x?"
@OSEM_Conference While a move in the right direction, an ACP is on a very similar salary to a ST5 yet don't have the same professional expenses. Why the difference in price?
@queenofswords6@kindnotruth@InvCoriolis Ignoring the patient's consent. Its the mountains out of molehills for social media gain.
Medical student: "Saw someone in SVT, tried step 1 on the RCUK guidelines, didn't work, so they went to hospital...."
PA student: "We had to think on our feet...and saved a life!"
@medicalmodelbri Or have wards with sensible designs so that you don't need a grand tour by a band 7 to be shown which 4 different rooms the equipment required to do a cannula is stored between.
