This morning a Bitcoin friend came into Clubhouse and told us that he had his dice rolled seed phrase swept. British hodl then tweeted it out. I immediately put the bitcoiner in touch with @Rob1Ham who asked @PortlandHODL to run it down. This along with analysis by @jamesob and @blocks seems to indicate that the seed generation path for dice rolls on Coldcard’s is sound.
Later this afternoon the friend told me he had misremembered and likely didn’t roll dice on this specific seed. Not malicious from him, just fog of war high cortisol induced memory loss.
Hopefully this sheds some light on the early tweet from British and also gives some level of reassurance about the entropy on the properly executed dice roll seeds.
@without_rulers@PortlandHODL curious if this might be a lurking issue if people might have auto withdrawal to affected addresses that might trigger soon? I imagine this might not be top of mind for people with DCA running?
@w_s_bitcoin Not familiar with auto withdrawal to cold storage from exchanges, but that might be something worth while discussing as people might not be thinking about that at the moment and they may have bad addresses waiting to be withdrawn to. @w_s_bitcoin
My understanding is that one of the security features is the bag number it is shipped in is burned onto the hardware and is used to verify the device wasn’t compromised before reaching the end user. I assume this is why they would need to be destroyed because they can’t upgrade the firmware without changing the bag. So basically it’s a result of one of their security features.

It’s been challenging, but we have now emailed every address we could reach through our store and newsletter systems.
The emails have been going out in batches since Friday. If you received one, we want to confirm that it is legitimately from Coinkite.
@w_s_bitcoin@w_s_bitcoin@DRLittlejohn137 I know someone who had this issue with it spinning (sparrow and mk4) and restarting sparrow and broadcasting fixed it.. he also had several inputs
@w_s_bitcoin@Rob1Ham could you ask @PortlandHODL the question that came up regarding the 2 dice roll paths on mk3 (adding 100 dice rolls on top of coldcard seed vs just loading your dice rolls directly) @w_s_bitcoin

Isn’t there a risk to mining pools losing hash rate by signaling? If the hashers that point to the pool wanted to signal they would have already pointed to a signaling pool. https://t.co/e4iqm0U9uV
