Yeah I was on a call w vp of one of the biggest k12 curriculum companies recently and ask them if they believe this instantiation of public education will last even the next 20 years

They didnt have a great answer for me

Unfortunately, i find it hard to believe that these existing systems will change in the ways they need to in the time frame theyll have to

I DO THINK that it makes for more reason to create outlets for students to learn the right skills and tools though

Hence, why i teach these workshops for these kids

Just did a vibe coding workshop w 30 hs seniors. 0 exposure to vibe coding prior to in 30 minutes 2 girls made an ai tutor that taught them asl through the webcam. Even corrected their form on how to say "thank you"

We gotta teach our kids that this world is built by people no different than them. Teach them to shape the world to what they wanna see

Just did a vibe coding workshop to 30 ap cs seniors. 0 of them have ever tried vibe coding. Half of them want to study ca in college just to come out the other end with no real skills

Tasked them to build something that solves a problem of their own

Two of the girls made a asl tutor that corrects their form through the webcam in just 30 minutes

They left saying they wanted to keep working on it all summer

We really have to be teaching kids agency and the ability to think critically

These kids are falling way behind. School is teaching them how to pass the ap test. They need to be learning how to build
