who specialized in domestic interior scenes of middle-class life.

The Soviet Union tests the 'Tsar Bomba' over an island in the Artic Ocean.

It was the largest nuclear weapon ever detonated.

~1500 times more powerful than the bombs dropped on Japan during WW2 combined.

The Parthenon is a temple that was dedicated to the Goddess Athena, patron of Athens.

Built in the 5th century BC.

It is one of the most recognisable monuments in the world,

and, given Athens' links with democracy, a symbol of that too. 🗳️🗳️

It is a natural raised area in the city of Athens (~150 metres above sea level).

Some of the most famous classical ruins in the world are here,
