That was England’s best chance to make a WC final in decades. It could be decades before it happens again. You’ve got to take these opportunities when they come.
Tuchel was hired to do that, improve the team mentality and win these big games. Tonight he failed to deliver.
There's no controversy. No sob story. No corruption. Just straight up cowardice and that is on the manager. You can't park the bus from 60 minutes with extra time possible and Messi in their team.
Genuinely can’t wait until he retires. Guy was given a wing combination of Dan Burn and Orielly for the last 20 minutes and they’re confused as to why he didn’t score.
Tuchel was hired for two games. He wasn’t brought in to help us qualify, he wasn’t brought in to help us get out the groups…he was brought in to get us through a semi-final and then a final and he has failed at the first hurdle. Sack him now.
That BBC end montage has got me.
The realisation that the Mexico game, possibly the greatest England performance I've watched, winning at a place no one ever wins at, has meant nothing.
Tournament football is so so cruel...
Worst part about that for England is you bring a manager in to avoid that specific game. He's literally come in to avoid that exact sort of exit and served up probably the most egregious version of it I can remember.
I watched Southgate throw the game against Italy when England went 1-0 up.
I expected Tuchel to be different but he’s just done the exact same tactically.
It’s unacceptable. Utter embarrassment.
1-0 in a semifinal with the chance to go to the World Cup and your players going toe to toe with the defending champions and you decide that they should just sit as deep as possible and stop playing? Throwing on defender after defender on the field. Damn near a war crime.
1. Argentina were not creating much to warrant shifting to 5 at back
2. Tuchel even had time to ditch the disastrous idea of 5 at back as Argentina were creating chances even before the equaliser
All in all those are the worst in-game changes that you will see. Sold the match.
England should’ve won this game by two goals. We’ve gone right into our shells at a time where we should’ve pressed home the issue, and this is going to sting maybe more than any of the other heartbreaks.
Every other england defeat i’ve been gutted but i am absolutely seething. anyone with a brain saw that coming. how at 1-1 that german didn’t bring on a single attacker to shift momentum is acc criminal
@tosinmm_ The game was right there. We've been played off the pitch before, that's horrible, but you can accept it. This game was there for the taking, we did everything right for 55 minutes then surrendered. I don't like generalisations but Tuchel totally bottled it
