@MaryFrancisWGST Having gone to a Catholic elementary school, my first experience regarding sex education in school was far from how it should have been taught. I agree. It is so important to gain awareness at a younger age rather than having a teacher explain only "approved" curriculum. #WGST106
@briannascu Totally agree. The impact history has had on Black women today should be acknowledged by everyone. Whether it is physical or emotional, it is real. #WGST106
Just because reproductive care is available doesn't always mean it is accessible. It can be so difficult for so many women to actually gain this access when it should be fundamental. #WGST106
Everyone deserves access to abortion, birth control, health care, education, and SO much more regardless of race, gender expression, income, or simply just whoever they are! #WGST106
The barrier between black women and their deserved reproductive rights is real. "Reliable" programs that are meant to support women who need to gain the funds to access inherently deserved care make it unnecessarily difficult for them to access that care. #WGST106
COVID has had a great effect on how policymakers have chosen to exploit the pandemic by choosing to classify abortion as nonessential and making it illegal in several states. Interestingly, the reduction in abortions has led to an increase in second-trimester abortions. WHY?
@RodDockson It is clear that everyone of any gender or sexuality can be either the abuser or the abused and it is important to respect and listen to everyone's experiences.
@JennaStockman_ TOTALLY AGREE!!! I made a comment similar to this on either a post of yours or someone else's and that idea is absolutely baffling. Why are men getting hyped up while women are being brought down??! #WGST106
This information comes from "Evaluating the Impact of Policies, Disasters, and Racism on Abortion Access: A Call for Mandated and Standardized Public Health Abortion Surveillance," by K. Coleman-Minahan
The movement for reproductive rights for all includes EVERY individual's right to plan a family, end a pregnancy, and have easy access to contraceptives, sexual education, and reproductive health services. #WGST106
@JennaStockman_ It is also an interesting dynamic that if a man is with a lot of women, he earns the title of a "stud" or some other "positive" name whereas if a woman is with just as many men, she is a slut or some other derogatory term.
@JoshS27675980 It is crazy that from such a young age, boys are always thought of as being smarter than girls. Gender and race should bear absolutely no difference in one's wages.
@JennaStockman_@gabbyn2219 I totally agree. It is heartbreaking that some women have no choice but to feel ashamed as a result of the lack of access to both menstrual products and menstrual education.
It is such a sad truth that reproductive rights are not fundamental rights for everyone and that this bias is often based on qualities no one can or should have to control.
If Roe is overturned, letβs be clear about who it would hurt the most. The impacts of abortion bans fall hardest on people of color, people with disabilities, people in rural areas, young people, immigrants, and people having difficulty making ends meet. #AbortionIsEssential
