@giulia_palaia This article provides some good tips on how to support sexual assault survivors. I think this is something that universities should also take into consideration besides just educating students about general information on SA and/or prevention. #WGST106
@JoshS27675980 I agree. Some of the ways that schools can change their learning environments is eliminating gender stereotypes and making sure students have access to technology. This can help nurture their interest in STEM. #WGST106
This is a infographic to show the general information about period poverty, mistreatment, and lack of access. It is shocking to see how others are mistreated and denied basic human rights just because they are menstruating. #WGST106
Reading more about people's personal experiences sheds more light on how period poverty is such a prevalent issue. No one should ever have to debate between buying food or pads, or trade period products for sex. #WGST106
The underrepresentation of #WomenInSTEM is an issue because it perpetuates gender stereotypes and there is less innovation and diversity of ideas. One way to help support women is to provide more childcare support. (Ex. parental leave, more childcare centers, etc.) #WGST106
Parental leave is being offered to men and women but women are the one who take it more than men. Parental leave taken by men needs to be normalized just as women. Women need a lot of support in their career to thrive in the STEM field.

When survivors are not given the proper resources, they may feel like their experiences are not valid. Starting conversations/providing a safe place for survivors to speak can create change within institutions. #WGST106#BelieveSurvivors
Passage of the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act will void agreements that secretly silence sexual assault victims in the workplace. A great victory but we must not forget student survivors continue to be silenced by Title IX failures #wgst106
@Juliaadoyl COVID-19 has made it very stressful for working mothers since they also had to worry about the lack of childcare (especially with online instruction or closure of childcare centers). This has made it so some mothers had to leave their jobs to take care of their children. #WGST106
@Daman51ngh I think that it is important for people to be educated on gender stereotypes (through workshops, courses, etc.) so they are aware of biases. If there is more awareness, people are able to step in and/or know how to properly react to sexist remarks/actions. #WGST106
Due to the stigma around menstruation, young menstruators have limited knowledge about menstruation. Having open conversations can destigmatize menstrual health and provide resources for others. #WGST106#CombatPeriodPoverty
Period poverty is defined as the lack of access to menstrual hygiene products and education, hygiene facilities, waste management, etc. When menstrual health is neglected, it negatively impacts physical and mental health, education, and social support. #WGST106#PeriodPoverty
In Andersh et al.’s article, they explain how this can affect careers in STEM. If there are more missed classes due to the lack of menstrual hygiene products, the opportunity to explore/learn more about STEM becomes smaller. #WGST106#PeriodPoverty
@GabyGut44 It's questions like these that make it so survivors feel like their experiences are not valid. If this continues, survivors will not feel comfortable to reach out for help and share their experiences to educate others. #WGST106#MeToo
It's incredible to see funding being put towards providing free menstrual products across schools, shelters, and communities. Seeing more states passing legislation can help improve many people's physical and mental health. #WGST106#CombatPeriodPoverty

@RAYning Good morning, I would love to share your survey with #schoolnurses. I am a big fan of your work & appreciate the focus on #PeriodEquity. Saw it through @NurseHolly89 School Nurse FB group. I wrote about your work in 2020, early on in the pandemic:

@BaltimoreFund @sem_camille This is a great service to help those that are looking into abortion care. Money should not stop someone from getting the care that they need. Everyone has the right to their own body. #WGST106
