@BrewerNation@jmac344 The Packers hand wasn't forced. Jenkins wasn't good anymore. They could have found a way to keep him of they wanted. They didn't want to. Caps don't inherently limit earning potential. Caps include collectively bargained earnings. No guarantee for baseball players currently.
@TitleTownTalks@sockt2003 The difference is Willis as a 3rd round pick is basically free, Richardson has a $5 mill cap hit unless you trade for him after his Rodgers bonus hits, which doesn't make sense for Indy. It's not the draft capital, it's the cap hit.
@TheMarg_@GBP4EVER@KenIngalls Yea, they have virtually no savings this year by cutting him now, but they would avoid the $8 mill dead cap hit next year. The cap is never a 1 yr game. I don't think they cut him either, but if they've decided he's not the guy, taking your medicine this year isn't a bad call.
@BrewPack8@MadisonMessiah I get not wanting to trade him to the dodgers and all things considered, I'd rather move him elsewhere. But if the dodgers offer is significantly better than anyone else, you gotta focus on doing what's best to make your team better.
@TheOnlyCharlesR@KenIngalls Every team uses every year as a kick the can. The only time you don't kick the can is if you're entering a rebuild. Then you eat as much as you can now to free up future cap. But basically every team, especially the competitive ones, are in a constant state of restructuring.
@SantasPortolio@misterJoey920@AndyHermanNFL But slowly flaming out with your generational player as a potential play in seed that cms maybe win a series in the right situation isn't a better option either.
The goal isn't to win the Giannis trade. The goal is to set yourself up for your future.
@joeyhawkeye@AndyHermanNFL Love's career record is 16-8 at home and 10-15-1 on the road.
You also have to figure the opponents in too. Some teams like Philly aren't going to matter much, but QBs like Goff and both are noticably worse in cold/bad weather games.
@joeyhawkeye@AndyHermanNFL We have not seen Love play a home playoff game. For a young team with still a semi young QB, home playoff games aren't a bad thing.
@Carbon_Show@realAaronJager@DrakeFantasy Bowers and McBride averaged 9 targets a game last year. Kraft's career high for targets in a game is 9. His next high is 7.
@maascowjr@CoachDanCasey Without knowing the call, my guess is enagbare likely has contain and Bullard should have filled the hole after motioning with the WR. Still would like to see 55 drive a WR back further though.
@Tampa2Coach@BrettKollmann Tom, Banks and Jenkins will start. From there, Walker and Rhyan are both FAs after the year. Pretty good chance Morgan, those two and possibly even Belton battle of the other two spots. I bet they hope Morgan and Belton win those jobs, making Rhyan and Walker expendable.
@rcon14 Can we at least get a look at Bullard in the slot before writing him off. He's a 2nd yr 2nd round pick who's a good athlete and moved around a ton last year. Let's let him settle in at slot a little and see if he can take a step.
@kyoumacapital@JerseyAlGBP@mattschneidman@MathBomb Yep. NFL teams almost certainly have access to data not publicly available that could never factor into a fan analysis like RAS. It's also probable that each team weights things slightly differently. I'd guess the output ends up being similar to RAS, but the inputs differ.
@KenIngalls I have no idea if it's just that life is busier or if this draft is just less intriguing for some reason, but I'm in the same boat. I've been way more checked out on the draft and every time I try to check in, I move on quickly.
@DiscoPuma@MathBomb@nfldraftscout Anecdotally from what I've seen, it seems to me that a great RAS doesn't equal success, but a poor RAS makes it very difficult to be successful.
Think it makes more sense to use RAS as a disqualifier based upon minimums than a differentiator per se.
@enochisenoch @Alexjakes8 Yea we've really lost the plot here. Both sides argue against the air. No rational person thinks Love was a stud. No rational person thinks Love is an elite option on a great team. Hes a really good player who was either a #1 on a bad to mediocre team or #2/3 on a good team.
@CoachB_ATX@Tanner_Allen10 The reason moneyball worked was because one team was doing it. Moneyball is all about exploiting a market inefficiency. Problem is that all teams use the same data today, which makes those inefficiencies harder to find.
@MikedUpSports1 To be fair, dollar store Justin Fields would cost a rookie contract and actual Justin Fields is apparently worth $20 mill. Don't disagree with your overall premise, but getting a similar QB for 1/20th the price is probably not a horrible idea if that's your only option.
@greeninthebay@Peter_Bukowski@JosinaAnderson He'll get his $30 per year but it will be some bull crap deal where his cap hit is like $55 mill in year 4 that he'll clearly never play on but the agent can say he got his guy $30 mill annually.
@Mike_Cremer89@AndyHermanNFL@paulracinejr Yes but you also need a contract for Doubs soon too. Obviously his won't be as big, but even serviceable WRs get decent deals. Part of the reason why Doubs seems to make more sense to me than Wicks.
