In a hearing where residents grilled officials on data centers, a resident of Tyrone Township, Michigan, asked a simple question: Have you signed an NDA with any party regarding developments that could affect the town?
The majority of the township's officials refused to answer.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani's new policy to permanently baseline fund New York City libraries and parks, removing the need for annual budget negotiations.
This is also a part of his campaign promises.
I'm always for being open about mental health, but important context is that Kean, as a state rep, voted against the New Jersey Paid Sick Leave Act, which established 40 hours of sick leave for employees a year.
Kean just took *4 months* of paid sick leave.
AOC on Water Crisis in Puerto Rico: You have people who can’t get water out of their taps, and yet golf courses are being watered without interruption. People are really suffering tremendously.
So we want to make sure that we are introducing amendments around water quality across the board.
AOC: The Republican Party’s brand is fear. And they have to constantly churn out what they want people to be afraid of—to be afraid of socialists, to be afraid of immigrants, to be afraid of women. They constantly want Americans in fear of somebody because, if you are not afraid of someone who is your neighbor, you’re going to realize who’s actually pickpocketing you.
And that is the large corporations that are engaged in profiteering and jacking up your prices for no good reason. It’s going to be this administration that is engaged in record levels of swindling, theft, tariffs, and attacks on your housing.
And so this is kind of their new thing of the day. But I think that people are feared out. I think everyone’s nerves are shot from constantly being taught and told what country, person, or community to be afraid of. And they just want a solution. They want their groceries to be more affordable. They want to figure out how we’re going to get health care. They want our housing to get under control.
And I think that we’re ready for an affirmative vision, and we’re ready for an affirmative agenda.
Joel Kim Booster talks about the entertainment industry's "backpedaling" on queer representation, even in light of the success of Heated Rivalry:
'“So many gay spaces have become almost exclusively for high-earning, wealthy gay men,” he says. He sees irony in the fact that “the people who would benefit from being in these spaces the most are the people who are never going to be able to get there financially.”
He says, too, that despite the success of his own projects and other LGBT-centered shows like Heated Rivalry, the current wave of harassment coming from the White House is having a chilling effect on artists. “People are really frightened and risk-averse right now because of this administration and what we’ve seen in the way of censorship or retaliation,” he says.
Booster calls out the industry’s backpedaling on shows that put queerness center stage — despite important successes like Heated Rivalry, in which love between two elite players shifts the hypermasculine world of hockey. “There are now six hockey shows in development, none of them gay, and it’s like, guys, I think it wasn’t the hockey that was the big issue.”'

NEWS: In a stunning upset, Mamdani-backed Darializa Avila Chevalier will defeat five-term incumbent Adriano Espaillat in the NY-13 congressional primary.
With victories by Brad Lander, Claire Valdez, and now Avila Chevalier, Zohran Mamdani went 3-for-3 with his endorsements in New York City's Democratic primaries.
Reporter: Some members of the Jewish community, including Democratic Congressman Josh Gottheimer, were alarmed by the language you used at the rally last week, calling AIPAC monsters who move dark money.
Mamdani: I want to be very clear. We’re talking about a status quo where children are being killed on a daily basis. More than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli military since the so-called ceasefire.
Even an Al Jazeera journalist, Ahmed Wishah, was killed this past Saturday by an Israeli strike. And when I am speaking about AIPAC, I’m speaking about an organization that has been supportive of the status quo, that has fought any attempt to actually deliver safety to people not just in Palestine but, frankly, throughout much of the region.
And it is a status quo of immorality. It is one that I will not accept. And when it comes to the way in which they defend the status quo, oftentimes they defend it through direct contributions, as we are seeing right now in New York 13.
Oftentimes they also support the status quo through dark money, by funneling money that would have previously come directly from AIPAC through other organizations whose contributors’ identities are only made clear after an election.
And I think it is important that when we ask ourselves how such death and destruction is happening overseas, we also name those who allow it to take place.
this is absolutely savage "For Fox to turn a man as partisan, bullying and unlikeable as Lalas into American soccer’s figurehead is the media equivalent of getting John Wayne Gacy to perform at a children’s birthday party."
