@D_Kuehn I've thought about this a little, and best I could come up with would to be to compare how productive someone married to someone in same field to someone who isn't. Probably not perfect!
"Economics should be a worldly philosophy, looking on the economy from a heightโwith among other telescopes those supply and demand curves."
My latest column for Folha de S.Paulo.
@tonyannett I hope to one day get a chance to read more about labourisms connection to Methodism (so more of the British story than with social democracy). Can you think of any good readings?
Pretty extraordinary intervention by David Cameron on the day of Rishi Sunak's speech:
* Says that scrapping the northern leg of HS2 is a mistake that 'throws away years of political consensus'
* Accuses Sunak of acting against Britain's long-term national interests
* Says a 'once in a generation opportunity' has been lost
@csingletonecon@sjbEconobot The macroeconomic function of market makers is ignored an unbelievable amount. (He also provides a nice critique of supply and demand when introducing market makers!)
@csingletonecon@sjbEconobot His nobel prize speech is wonderful (and gives a lot of credit to the Cambridge Keynesians!). His book A Market Theory of Money is some of the deepest economic thinking i've ever read.
@csingletonecon@sjbEconobot Although I do think move on is a strong statement. Technically maybe, but conceptually, probably moved backwards! I read what Keynes was writing at my age over 100 years ago, I am not even 1% of the way there!
@csingletonecon@sjbEconobot I didn't interpret it as flippant! More interested in why they didn't peak your interest. People are still working away in their style btw! (not me, i'm in the process of becoming addicted to Hicks's monetary theory)
