Notice of motion was made by Trustee Parrott that the Board support families of Edith Cavell students regarding the seismic mitigation project at their school.
Staff to report back to board next month on why PIR recommended new build and stay on site but PDR eschewed both of these proposed concepts

@CarrieBercic@CavellElem@Rob_Fleming Lowest cost option is new build. We need to consider the lifecycle costs and the $6m in deferred maintenance when considering costs. @Rob_Fleming please come and face our community and explain the math.
@Rob_Fleming@janetrfraser can you address our #EdithCavellElementary community and explain why we were moved up on the list for seismic upgrade based on the urgent need for expansion because of the Cambie Corridor bursting at the seams but now you seem to be passing the buck ??
@Rob_Fleming we invite you to explain to the #EdithCavellElementary community why in the 2012 PIR why that report recommends the students of Edith Cavell stay on site while they do a NEW build ... what changed? We are asking for transparency and consultation #GetSeimicRight
Many thanks @VSB39@SAHoffman for listening to our school community and keeping us together and close to home .Lots of very grateful and relieved families today, now to #GetSeimicRight with new build and expansion for bursting at the seams Cambie Corridor @Rob_Fleming
@j38lee@Rob_Fleming@janetrfraser@VSB39 VSB reps on the VPO Steering Committee should not acquiesce to MoE reps' choice when recommending seismic option. They have the power to issue their own recommendation. Trustees can take steps to ensure that VSB exercises its full rights under the VPO MOU. #GetSeismicRight
Thank you @VSB39 and @SAHoffman for hearing from and finding the best available option for all communities involved. I am confident @CavellElem will collaborate well with Maple Grove school and community. Thank you for hearing us and thinking of our families.
