Good morning from #Ukraine.

Today I woke up to a bit of a shock. My numbers moved, and I now have 22k followers on X.

That is 22,000 people watching my journey here, and I am grateful for every single one of you.

I do not normally pay much attention to numbers. I am a small-town woman from #Canada . I used to live in the mountains. I fished, sold antique Christmas ornaments, and took care of my family.

For those of you who are only finding me now, I did not come to Ukraine to become a soldier.

I came in December 2022 simply to help people.

I thought anyone could hand out a bag of food. I had a driver’s licence. I was willing to work. I knew I could help, so I came.

But after two years of watching people die, watching cities I had worked in be destroyed, occupied by russian forces, or emptied completely, I became tired of arriving after the damage was already done.

I became a soldier in 2024 because I realized the only way to truly help the Ukrainian people was to stop the russians from reaching the places I had come to love.

And now they are threatening the city I have called home for more than two years.

And more than that…

My soldiers are regular people living through extraordinary circumstances. Many of them were in prison and volunteered to exchange their sentences for a minimum one-year contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

They could have stayed.

They would not have been mobilized.

But they chose to come and fight for their country.

They also came without many of the resources and support that other soldiers have. That is why I push so hard for them. That is why I tell their stories. That is why I fundraise.

And that is why I am walking from Kyiv to Kramatorsk.

So today, 22,000 followers means more than a number to me.

It means 22,000 people are watching.

22,000 people are listening.

And hopefully, 22,000 people will continue helping me stand behind the soldiers who are standing between the people I love and the russian army.
