@philrichardsuk @Coastway_Will MOT, insurance & tax need to be paid anyway as I already have the car so they’re not part of the balance sheet when comparing the two. The %age of depreciation etc attached to my commute vs ‘other’ driving is not as high as you suggest. No surprises at all. £25 vs £55, no contest

@Coastway_Will Tax & insurance are required anyway, so the only variable is fuel which I obviously calculated into my statement that the train is more expensive. For my commute to work, the train is 2x the cost as driving (based on fuel, parking, & tube ticket for the final 20 mins of journey)
