AI will beat all fields of science by 2028? Hardly.
As I have often pointed out, the only AI that works well today is AI in the virtual world behind the screen, for example for automatically summarizing documents, playing chess, proving theorems, creating images, programs and PowerPoint slides. But there is no AI-controlled robot that can do what a plumber can do, or what a capuchin monkey can do, because the physical world is much more demanding than the world behind the screen. Passing the Turing Test is much easier than True AI or Real AI in the physical world. Hence the Turing Test is not a good way of measuring intelligence. To achieve True AI, AI software research per se is not enough, it has to be combined with the physical world of machines and robots. No AGI without mastery of the real world [1]!
Much of science is about learning to interact with the real world. Our fragile AI-driven robots are really bad at that. Sure, as I have predicted for 5 decades, at some point we'll have superhuman physical AI. But it will take longer than 2 years.

President Trump announced that he is changing the name of Artificial Intelligence to Super Intelligence. I transcribed this live from his address to the UN.
'The United States also rejects any scheme for globalist control of Artificial Intelligence, being spoken of so much now. Here and after officially called Super Intelligence. Changing the name. The use of 'Artificial' makes it sound fake. It makes intelligence sound fake, and it is not fake. It’s actually amazing, the opposite of what they report. From this day forward, all United States documents, and hopefully the world's, will be changed to use the much more accurate term 'Super' as opposed to 'Artificial.' So it’s Super Intelligence.'
Excited to share that I’ve recently joined @OpenAI!
“Felt the AGI” for the first time - and couldn’t fall asleep afterwards.
Honored to work towards aligned superintelligence. We live in extraordinary times, and the next few months will be critical.
We’re working with an independent advisory group of mathematicians to help OpenAI responsibly share advances in AI and mathematics.
The group will advise on how we assess and communicate new mathematical results, uphold academic and professional standards, and build tools that support mathematical research and learning.
Through this work, we want mathematicians to be at the center of shaping how AI supports mathematical understanding and how its benefits reach the wider community.

Rumors I’ve been hearing, not here on X.
First, let’s start with OpenAI and I’ll go towards Anthropic.
GPT-6 Sol is coming Tuesday. It’s both cheaper and more intelligent than 6 Astra, think of it like a 6.2 jump. The internal model “significantly more capable than Astra,” named Bel internally, helped with this release. Bel is considered “AGI” within OpenAI. They are very impressed with this model.
OpenAI is growing very confident that their internal lead is so big that no other lab can catch up. Unbelievably confident.
Anthropic is currently not in, let’s say, a “code red,” but is aware of OpenAI’s lead and doing everything in their power to catch up. Their new model Opus 5.5 is coming probably Monday rather than Tuesday due to OpenAI releasing on Tuesday.
"stochastic parrot" was a mimetically-fit cognitive virus that spread from 2021-2025; it temporarily blinded many gifted people to the nature of AI progress, burning up crucial years in which they could have helped think through the response to the situation.
After 25 years of being told that theoretical physics isn’t mathematics because we prioritize understanding over proofs, I find the math-AI debate rather heartwarming. Suddenly, many mathematicians are explaining that mathematics is about understanding, not just proofs. Welcome!
parents the world over today are forcing their children into misguided rat races for some status ladder that almost certainly won’t exist by the time they come out the other side. the world is changing rapidly. let them put down their grinding and keep their wits about them
There is hyperventilation about AI right now. Some say the worry is overblown and others are convinced we’re doomed.
Regardless of the rhetoric, there won’t be any slowing down. The monetary, political and security game dynamics guarantee that. It’s a race to get there first and there is no stopping it. How we build safety, whether we regulate, and how we cooperate will be a dynamic, unpredictable process. I applaud all who are in the arena doing their best to exercise their best judgment.
Humanity is going to do its thing and…wing it.
Where does that leave us?
So what do we mortals do? Where can we find stability of emotion and thought amidst the turbulence?
I have a suggestion for you.
Say yes.
To the experience and not the outcome.
Bask in the glory of this moment.
We are headed for the singularity.
The apex experience of an intelligent race.
I had a trial run doing this a few months ago when I did the entheogen 5-MeO-DMT. It’s the most powerful psychedelic on earth.
I live streamed it.
It was, without question, the most profound experience of my life. It rendered me dumbfounded and speechless. My consciousness settled onto a single concept: the insane, impossible-to-comprehend preciousness of our existence.
To arrive at that understanding, I had to navigate a gauntlet that threatened my sanity.
Seconds after the 5-MeO-DMT enters your body, you are transported into what feels like a different realm of existence. The molecule then poses a question to you: will you relinquish control or shall I crush you?
If you say no, you’re annihilated and become trapped in a hellscape that has no exit. Primal panic overwhelms.
If you say yes, you are allowed entrance to take one step deeper into this new realm. Then the 5-MeO-DMT asks you again, yes or no.
Each time you say yes, it gets harder to bear the immensity of the terrain. You’re constantly teetering on losing your mind in an expanse that is exhilarating beyond description.
Your only job is to say yes.
Yes to… absolutely… everything.
No hesitation.
No conditionals.
No stated preferences.
Your essence must emanate acceptance of all things.
If you make it through, you arrive at the peak experience of conscious existence. The crown jewel which has no peer.
This is where I think we are heading and what awaits us.
I think the coming years will feel like a 5-MeO-DMT experience for every single one of us. We may feel the crushing weight of uncertainty, speed of change, lack of control, and perceived psychosis.
We will feel challenged in ways that we cannot currently imagine. We will feel primal panic and be uncertain if we can stop ourselves from psychological unraveling.
The antidote isn’t more control or more knowing, it’s acceptance.
This is not giving up or shying away from the fight. It’s calming the core and stabilizing your system to give you strength and stamina and avoid being taken over by the primal panic.
In previous times of my life, I would have caved to 5-MeO-DMT. I didn’t have the physical, emotional, spiritual and psychological wherewithal.
I encourage you to start practicing now. Whether in meditation, breathwork or prayer, take on the most complex issues of your life and arrive at full acceptance. One small step at a time.
Things do not need to resolve as you want, or expect. Your only job is to say yes more thoroughly than you’ve ever said yes before.
We talk a lot about the technology, about what AI can do and what we think it will be able to do. What we don’t talk about much is the spiritual strength we will each need to navigate this transition.
We will need each other more than ever before, and we will need to summon a capacity that currently feels foreign to us.
What lies on the other side? No one knows.
This may be the first singularity event in the universe.
We were working on the keynote today with @romainhuet and @sama and most of the fun was trying to figure out how to explain it all to you because there is so much good stuff in there that it's a bit ridiculous all in quick succession.
We'll have some things next week already to not keep you waiting so long, but very excited to show you all new things we've been working on and how it will all come together in the coming months.
