I drew this because I am upset by seeing my childhood's favorite art being made cheap and unappreciated. I remember treasuring every second of "My Neighbor Totoro" and eagerly awaited the next release from Studio Ghibli every two or three years.
I treasured the craftsmanship put into every hand-drawn frame. Even though it is not the most efficient method to create animations, especially in the age of AI, it is the most effective way to connect and touch my heart!
When AI is churning out Ghibli style art every second flooding the internet, this is definitely one of my least happy moment about Generative AI.
Not everything needs AI.
What other things should we not use AI, keeping them to our own hands?
🤔 Why do we perceive some real-world actions that aren't actually possible—and miss the ones that are?
In our @ACMIUI paper, we frame affordance as users' inference over confidence of execution and predicted utility of the action—unlike Gibson's "information pickup."

Forgot to share this before #chi2024. Now that the conference is over, it might be time to reflect on how we did as an attendee and better prepare for #chi2025!
