Dario is when an academic gets to the position he’s in. He’s a data point of one in that regard and he fundamentally is not comfortable with making decisions of this scope so he is asking for help/collaboration/committee. And he’s objectively a bad communicator, even most academics are more prepared for giving a 10 min talk at a national conference than he is speaking with 60 minutes.

Comments like this should be sufficiently disqualifying. Dario talking about ‘people and their elected officials’ having a say in ai safety (aka regulating) cracked me up. Anyone who has watched 30 min of CSPAN, even YouTube 🩳 version, on anything related to tech knows these folks in both chambers have near zero agency on the subject, sadly many don't even engage with the tech as personal consumers.

Which means AOC is a political billionaire.
She allocates far more than any market billionaire.

A market billionaire has one billion, illiquid, per life.
So: AOC spends 10-100X what a market billionaire has.
It's not even close.
She's right about one thing, though.
AOC didn't earn the tens of billions she spends.

Hey @claudeai , small but annoying TTS bug in the iOS app 🐛

I use Claude on walks to brainstorm; hit play to listen to replies instead of walking and reading. Love it.

The voice reads “/” as “divided by” instead of “slash.” I think the fix is treating “/” as a word separator in TTS context rather than a math operator.

This comment is more for traditional companies (think manufacturing and upstream Semi, where I have experience). Having internal Al builders (with domain knowledge and technical chops) teach and show folks how to build simple tools to do small jobs better. I served in that role myself last year. 2 of us (in a division of 40) AI-pilled 10 people in 3 weeks and mind you these are senior scientists/managers (no coding experience whatsoever; just Excel). The trick is to reduce/eliminate what I call “set up barrier” (the steps you need to set up a tool or a set of tools that would then unblock you to get the benefits). IT/enterprise Tech teams are unfortunately ineffective. Not relying on them would be another step in the right direction.
