Improving adolescent health requires more than services. It takes coordinated leadership, shared accountability, and collective action.
With support from #ProtectSRHR, district leaders, cultural and religious leaders, youth representatives, and development partners came together in Terego District to review progress, address persistent challenges, and strengthen the delivery of adolescent health services.
Discussions highlighted encouraging gains in family planning uptake and increased use of adolescent-friendly health services. At the same time, the meeting acknowledged that teenage pregnancy remains a significant concern, particularly in some sub-counties, reinforcing the need for stronger prevention efforts and sustained community engagement.
The meeting concluded with clear commitments to strengthen school health programmes, accelerate the implementation of measures to prevent teenage pregnancy and child marriage, improve coordination across sectors, and mobilize resources to ensure every young person has access to quality health information and services.
Together, we are building stronger systems that enable adolescents and young people to live healthy, informed, and empowered lives. #ProtectSRHR #ReachAhandAfrica

A safe delivery is one of the greatest gifts a man can provide for his family. While home births and traditional birth attendants have long been trusted in many communities, they may lack the critical resources needed to manage unexpected complications during childbirth.
To all expectant fathers and male partners, we encourage you to take the lead in planning for a facility-based delivery. Choosing a hospital or health clinic helps ensure that both your partner and your baby receive skilled care from trained healthcare professionals.

🚨 Preeclampsia is a dangerous pregnancy condition causing high blood pressure after 20 weeks or after delivery. ⚠️ Early detection saves lives. Attend antenatal care and seek urgent care for severe headache, swelling, blurred vision, or abdominal pain.

Menstruation is a natural part of life, yet stigma often thrives where there is a lack of understanding.
This #MenstrualHygieneDay, we emphasise the power of inclusive education by bringing boys into the conversation. When we equip boys with accurate knowledge about menstruation, we replace mockery with empathy and teasing with support.
By fostering shared understanding, we create an environment where young girls can stay in school and live their daily lives with dignity and confidence.
Let’s build a supportive community for everyone.

Proper hygiene is a powerful tool for health and dignity. This #MenstrualHygieneDay, we are emphasizing the essential habits that keep young women and girls safe and confident during their periods.
Encouraging girls to wash their hands thoroughly both before and after changing their sanitary pads is a simple yet crucial step to prevent infections and maintain optimal health.
Together, let’s ensure every girl has the knowledge and resources she needs to manage her menstruation with pride.

Empowering girls means giving them the whole story, not just the basics.
A girl’s first period is more than the start of a monthly cycle. It marks a new stage of growth, one that comes with important physical, emotional, and reproductive changes. Understanding puberty includes knowing that menstruation signals the beginning of fertility and the possibility of pregnancy.
When girls have accurate information about their bodies, fertility, and reproductive health, they are better equipped to make informed choices. Knowledge empowers them to delay sexual activity, stay focused on their education, and pursue their goals with confidence.
Let’s ensure every girl has the facts, support, and resources she needs to manage her period with dignity, navigate adolescence safely, and build the future she deserves.

This #MenstrualHygieneDay, we remind you all to educate the young women and girls to practice menstrual hygiene the right way.
Teaching girls to change their pads after every 4 to 6 hours encourages them to stay clean, healthy and comfortable during their periods.

Are you a supportive father?🧡
Fatherhood is a hands-on journey, and a supportive father doesn't just provide, but he also connects, comforts, and cares for his family. Holding, carrying, and soothing your new-born baby builds an unbreakable bond and gives your partner the vital teamwork she needs during those early days.
Let’s redefine strength through tenderness and active parenting, because every moment spent holding your baby is an investment in their future.

Yesterday, under the Protect SRHR initiative, a culture-led dialogue in West Division - Koboko District was held by our team and partners under the #ProtectSRHR project, focusing on teenage pregnancy prevention and community response.
The engagement brought together cultural leaders, adolescents, health workers, peer educators, and community members to address the growing challenge affecting young girls and families.
With teenage pregnancy rates at 28%, the highest in Koboko, discussions focused on key drivers including substance abuse, poor parenting, limited parent-child communication, and early marriages. Community leaders committed to strengthening parenting, increasing SRHR sensitisation, and discouraging child marriages within their communities.
