@Rebecca21951651@sigridbratlie@RetractionWatch@bborrell@NewsfromScience He also wrote in Slack “the lab escape version of this is so friggin" likely to have happened because they were already doing this type of work and the molecular data is fully consistent with that scenario...” and then on 2/2/20 agreed for political reasons to call it natural.
@sigridbratlie The authors of ‘Proximal Origins’ make it clear in their internal messages that their response was based on politics. Read Andersen’s Slack message post from Feb 2, 2020 at 11:56.https://t.co/7BhTlhKMxZ
@VigilantFox They worked hard to cover it up. As Rambaut (one of the authors of Proximal Origins” wrote, “The truth is never going to come out (if escape is the truth).”

@SenRandPaul Please post the messages from before their paper also. They acknowledge that their cover up of the likelihood of a lab leak was political. (See 2/2/20) https://t.co/7BhTlhKMxZ
Rambaut: “Given the shit show that would happen if anyone serious accused the Chinese of even accidental release… [and] we cannot possibly distinguish between natural evolution and escape so we are content with ascribing it to natural processes.” Andersen: “Yup. I totally agree”
@SenRandPaul@piersmorgan Reigning in nuclear weapons after their first use had bipartisan support decades ago; why can’t we get bipartisan support to reign in gain of function research today?
@SenRandPaul The messages from before they wrote “Proximal Origin” are important too. For example, Rambaut wrote on Feb 2, 2020: “The truth is never going to come out (if escape is the truth).” https://t.co/7BhTlhKMxZ
@surroadvisor A contract can’t buy a woman’s right to vote and a contract can’t buy a woman’s right to make medical decision regarding her own body. She has a right change her mind and do what she wants with her body no matter what a contract says.
@surroadvisor Many beautiful kids don’t exist because we banned child marriage and forced marriage and that’s okay. People in countries that care about human rights don’t trust corporations to market in human body parts (like kidneys) or human bodily processes (like pregnancies).
