@yoheinakajima +1. Been doing this for a few months already. At work you need to ship, so thereβs no time to try different prompting approaches etc
What do you usually try on the side?
The internet has turned on Higgsfield, and Comfy showed up right on time with a fan
Spoiler: Higgsfield wanted to make a name for itself with open source. Now the whole internet is trying to open-source it, without its involvement.
Check out the video!
Higgsfield seems to have a PR disaster on its hands. First the company was criticized for aggressive marketing, questionable advertising claims, and the whole "unlimited" plans saga. Then it really screwed up on its own.
In September, a Higgsfield representative loudly announced that the company had open-sourced everything it had worked on over the past 18 months. On top of that, developers were invited to build their own Higgsfield competitor, with the company promising its technology and even $50,000 for a useful product.
It sounded revolutionary. But when the meatbag pedants went digging on GitHub, it turned out that open SDKs, sample apps and APIs aren't the same as the source code of the entire platform. The generative models themselves and the core infrastructure stayed closed.
Enter ComfyUI, which apparently decided it would be downright rude to let such a gift from fate go unnoticed.
On October 15, Comfy launched a whole hackathon under the mocking name #OpenSourceHiggsfield, with a $25,000 prize pool.
The slogan deserves its own trolling award:
"Higgsfield promised to open up its platform. Let's help."
The premise is wonderful: developers are invited to build open alternatives to Higgsfield's most popular tools themselves: Cinema Studio, Genjutsu, re-shooting video from a different angle, and other generative exercises.
The grand prize is $10,000. There are also RTX 5090s, API credits and other rewards. Project source code must be published on GitHub.
The best part is that the community has actually jumped in.
Projects have already appeared, including Comfield, an open video-generation studio with camera control and dozens of presets; FXjutsu, a set of VFX tools built on LTX; and other experimental projects.
What makes it especially spicy is that Higgsfield itself is integrated into the Comfy ecosystem. So the two companies can happily cooperate on the tech side while one publicly trolls the other.
Submissions close on October 30, and winners will be announced on November 6.
Higgsfield promised to open-source their entire platform. They didnβt.
Let's help them.

90/99 agent memory systems lost to plain RAG
new paper (Memory Tax): they tested 11 systems vs retrieval over raw chat history. rewriting history drops/distorts facts, then retrieval gets harder
before shipping a memory layer: try RAG on the transcript first

If anyone still remembers the demoscene and geeks out over all that pixel art and ASCII art, here's a neat generator for you.
It works with both images and video. Google sign-in is only needed for exporting.
And it's not a filter, it's a proper generator. The number of settings is seriously impressive, from fonts all the way down to granularity.
