It is heartbreaking to witness young girls in Afghanistan mourning their accomplishments instead of celebrating them. Graduating from 6th grade and moving on to 7th grade should be a joyous milestone in their early education journey. However, in Afghanistan, this achievement has become a symbol of dashed dreams and a bleak future.

Zainab Alizai, an Afghan elementary school girl who recently completed her final exams, has a powerful message for world leaders. Despite her dreams of continuing her education, obtaining a Bachelor's degree, and becoming an education minister to provide opportunities for those deprived of education, today she finds herself facing a harsh reality. Due to Taliban’s law, she will no longer be allowed to study beyond the 6th grade. This heartbreaking setback highlights the urgent need for action to ensure that every child, regardless of their gender or background, has access to quality education.
