Today, we celebrate the Day of the African Child 2026 🌍

We are reminded that every child deserves the opportunity to grow, learn and thrive in a safe and healthy environment.

This year’s theme, “Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa,” calls us to action, @ImaraLeadership we believe that access to clean water, proper sanitation and hygiene is not a privilege it is a fundamental right.

📌No child should have to choose between attending school and accessing safe water.
📌No child’s future should be limited by preventable diseases or inadequate sanitation facilities.

When we invest in WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), we invest in children’s health, education, dignity and future leadership.

Together, let’s create an Africa where no child is left behind.

Global health architecture reform must deliver for those who need it most.

Health Ministers from Ethiopia, Liberia, Malawi, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Somalia and Spain, through the Global Leaders Network (@GLN_Community ), are calling for women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health, including #SRHR, to be explicitly prioritized in ongoing reform efforts.

As aid declines and climate, conflict and economic pressures grow, protecting these services is essential for stronger, more equitable health systems.

The meeting between the Secretary General @dmwaps and Amb Dr Getrude Mongella, the former Secretary General of the 4th UN World Conference on Women held in Beijing, 1995 and also the first President of the Pan African Parliament. The discussio focused on advancing voices of women leaders to foster meaningful dialogue that contributes to a more peaceful, prosperous and united Great Lakes Region.
