Re: Cold Card Hack
Hello fellow Bitcoiners,
It’s been nearly one week since my wallet was drained.
I lost my entire bitcoin stack, presumably the most in the entire attack - an amount I’m more than embarrassed and ashamed to even admit publicly. This was not only my life savings but my time, energy, hardcore conviction and identity after 13 years in this space.
I am posting pseudonymously as I’ve always preferred to stay out of the spotlight - and privacy (inspired by Satoshi) is something I value. I debated whether or not I should say anything at all, but after much deliberation I decided it may be beneficial for other victims who are struggling.
While this incident certainly forced upon me the darkest days of my life so far - I have now accepted it and will slowly put together my life again. I came from nothing and did everything right (except rolling the damn dice apparently 😅). I stayed away from trading, exchanges, shitcoins, ICOs, NFTs, false prophets, etc and quietly and consistently built up over the years through all the ups and downs - never spending frivolously on material goods but instead using bitcoin as my sense of freedom and security - with the hopes to pass it on to my future children.
Even though that peace, freedom and security is now gone - I am beyond grateful for the journey and life that bitcoin enabled me to have.
To all the other victims, as cliche as it is to say “it’s only money” - true wealth, as I’ve learned over and over again is in health, family, and friendships. I’d be lying if I told you I’m not afraid of the uncertainty ahead, but I know by taking one step at a time it will be possible to rebuild. Trust me if I can come to these realizations, you can too! The hardest challenges in life make us stronger and turn us into the best versions of ourselves - don’t give in to the hopelessness. By being in this community you are apart of something special that the majority of the world still hasn’t realized yet. It’s still early!
Thanks to all the wonderful people in the community I’ve been DMing over the past week - your kind words of support mean the world to me and helped me start to believe in myself again.
To the hacker: you still can do the right thing here and come clean - you have prompted a serious wake-up call that has brought the community together which will bring more resilience for the future. Doing the noble thing now will prevent a lifelong hunt.
To all the amazing bitcoiners who have jumped to action from the very beginning to support each other and mitigate further damage - it’s been a beautiful thing to watch.
To the @blocks team and especially @intangiblecoins, your efforts are inspiring and provide me with hope. Believe me when I say that IF I ever get my coins back you will all be taken care of very well, along with massive donations to the open source community.
For now I will withhold any judgement towards @nvk and the @Coinkite team - while I’m still processing this loss and dealing with the gravity of building my life up from the ruins - I have 0 anger or resentment. Bitcoin security is a tough job, mistakes are made, and lessons are learned by all. I made mistakes by trusting and not verifying as well as not having a more robust security solution so the responsibility must be shared, hindsight is 20/20 and even though it’s tough: I’m okay admitting that. Bitcoin humbles all.
Having said all that… I’M NOT FUCKING LEAVING!!! I will start building a new stack from the ground up like all the other plebs as my conviction in Bitcoin is even stronger today then when I got my first coins in 2013.
This was never about the money - it was always about the revolution, and that can’t be stopped. We will win.
Let’s keep our heads high.
The march continues.
It’s time to rebuild.
PS: Thanks for everything Satoshi ❤️

Bitcoin exists because bankers can print money in secret, out of thin air, anytime they want...
Bankers created the Federal Reserve as a private co. in 1913
By 2000, 87 years later, the Fed bankers printed ~$4.6 trillion M2 money supply
From 2000 to 2025, the Fed printed an additional $17 trillion in secret, out of thin air, a ~360% increase, raising the M2 money supply to $21.6 trillion.
Which means ~80% of the money that exists today was printed in the last 25 years, with no public justification.
There are no ledgers, no audits, no votes, no records, and no accountability for the $21.6 trillion dollars that exist today, that any private citizen has ever seen. And there is no accountability, no explanation and no documents for review on the printing of ~80% of the money that has ever existed in the last 25 years.
Bitcoin replaced this archaic and secretive system with public unalterable ledgers with perfect accountability, that self-audit every 10 minutes, viewable by every citizen 24/7, that no one can manipulate.
These Bitcoin accounting rails are the best accounting technology the world has ever seen, and why $100,000 is early and cheap, $1,000,000 is next.

can't believe millennials had to smoke out of soda cans and apples then blow it all into a toilet paper roll filled with dryer sheets while gen z can just pull out a weed pen and hit it in the middle of target
Just started Lawrence’s book
“THE BIG PRINT.” He is a financial expert and BITCOIN advocate whom I pay attention to.
The following is a quotefrom his book:
“This book is written because the system has been set up and controlled by a so-called elite group of financial (and government) people who don’t care about you or your well-being. They have tilted the game board in their favor.”
“This leads to the record wealth inequality we experience today, causing problems at all levels of our Society. The system is broken because our money is broken.”
From another chapter:
“the broken money system gives one group of citizens an unfair advantage. It also grants undue power to the government, which has led to a lot of bad policies, including perpetual wars.”
“Many on the left blame capitalism and advocate for forms of socialism. This is entirely understandable (even if it is the incorrect solution)… because what we now have is rugged capitalism for individuals….but socialism for the rich and powerful.”
Lawrence Lepard and I write for similar reasons….and why we invest in gold, silver, and Bitcoin.
Why we are concerned: Lawrence references the bestseller The Fourth Turning and why this financial crisis today will be disastrous for the unprepared.
He states: “All fourth turnings represent a Cycle of Crisis, culminating in a resolution that fundamentally reshapes the rules and structure of Soceity. The last Fourth Turnings in history were The American Revolution, The Civil War, The Great Depression/WWII, each spaced 80-years apart.”
This why…in my previous Tweet or X I encouraged you to “be prepared”…rather than join the “panic.”
I thank Lawrence Lepard for his latest book, “The Big Print.”
I look forward to reading this book and being more prepared…to be one who prospers from this crisis….not one of the millions who will panic during this fourth turning crisis….and grow poorer.
Take care.
You’re not late to Bitcoin.
Bitcoin doesn’t keep attendance. It’s not a competition, it’s about protecting your time, energy, and work. Every day you choose what to store your life’s effort in.
Choose #Bitcoin
I am obsessed with Bitcoin.
I can't follow a small-talk conversation anymore!
I don't care about your basketball team. I don't care about your dog, your cat, your coworkers who said XYZ.
Tell me why we work for money which can be printed without any restriction.
The people that are going to make it, always make it.
This was an important lesson I and my ego had to learn in life.
And the ones that won’t, never will.
I have a guy I met here in Dubai, who has $4m in Bitcoin in cold storage.
And struggles to earn money (roughly $15,000 a month) through consulting and coding to make sure he HODL's his stack and doesn't need to sell.
His family literally lives a sub-par life despite being a multi-millionaire so that he can HODL.
One conversation later and an introduction to Charles Schwab and an OTC desk.
He moved $400,000 into MSTY at $19.90 a share (20,100 shares).
So now he has $3.6m in Bitcoin in Cold Storage.
And just had $26,845 dropped into his account after yesterday's dividend.
So, his income has just gone from $15,000 a month to a total of $41,845 this month.
And that 10% will continue to grow faster than the Trad-Fi benchmark of QQQ and will probably grow at 30-40% of MSTR's CAGR if he continues to pull out the dividend.
Do you think he has a higher chance of HODLing the rest of that stack forever now or before when he was struggling?
This is the use case.
Having so many of these conversations.
The danger of the fiat system has everyone running to gold. When QE starts there will be a frenzy. Bitcoin will go on an epic run. Any companies holding Bitcoin will go parabolic. We are long overdue for multiple, large, monthly green candles. Be patient and good luck.
