@loganb @ArmandDoma That'd make sense, but centrists also do that. They treat the left as agents, chastising them about e.g. their poor strategy, while treating the right almost like wild animals that need to be understood. Centrists are no more on the same tribe as the left than the right!

@ArmandDoma Flavor #2 also includes most democratic-leaning commentators, e.g. Matt Yglesias, Swann Marcus. They chastise democrats or the left for what they're saying/doing wrong, but talk about the GOP and their voters as unmovable obstacles that must be navigated around, or tended to.
