Recently, a wave of de-monetization campaigns have taken place on X. Several large organizations and "superspreader" accounts have lost their verification on the platform, reducing their visibility and removing their ability to monetize on ad share revenue or subscription services.

This started soon after a group of MAGA activists started opposing Vivek Ramaswamy's and Elon Musk's views on H-1B visas. The most vocal of all was @LauraLoomer, and she was the first one to lose her blue tick. Soon after this, @ConservativeOG lost their gold checkmark, and all the accounts affiliated with the group lost their blue ticks.

Another group affiliated with Nick Fuentes called "Groypers" was suspended soon after, as well as the following accounts:

Myron Gaines (grifter from Fresh and Fit podcast)
Anastasia Loupis (Danish conspiracy theorist)
Sulaiman Ahmed (Pakistani serial liar and Mario Nawfal's co-host)
Stew Peters (American racist conspiracy theorist)
Jake Shields (antisemite conspiracy theorist)

In addition, some content farms were suspended for engagement manipulation.

In Dec 2022 Elon himself claimed that "a high priority software update for Twitter is showing the reason for account suspension or deboosting" and that "rules should be equally & consistently applied." In Jul 2023 he doubled-down on this, stating that "The reason for suspension should be shown, along with ability to appeal quickly and easily."

Yet, I'm not sure if any of these people have been explained WHY their reach has been limited or why they were suspended.

Is it because their spreading lies and are being constantly Community Noted? Then why not do the same for Dom Lucre, Ian Miles Cheong or Matt Wallace? Is it because of antisemitic content? Then why are Vadim Loskutov AKA @runews and @DougAMacgregor still around?

The whole incident reeks of "rules for thee but not for me," where Elon's friends miraculously avoid suspensions and demonetizations but then those who criticize his views seem to be getting the whip.

And I'm not saying because I'm a big fan of these racist and antisemite bullshit peddlers (most of them even have Vatnik Soup entries), it's just unbelievable how unpredictable and unhinged the platform's owner seems to have become.

Every time I try to have an intellectually honest conversation with someone who says he doesn't care about Ukraine, but cares about Gaza, it always comes down to America is the biggest evil in the world. Why isn't the Russo-Ukranian War just another local/regional conflict?

The Russo-Ukranian War is a traditional imperialist war - expansion of borders, establishing control, restructuring Ukrainian national identity - which the world has not seen since WWII.

There were many local and regional wars, usually fueled by ethno-religious motives, there were distant imperialist interventions of both the West and the East, but a war of a nature such as the one against Ukraine has not been fought after Hitler.

It's not a matter of casualties alone, the destructive weapons used alone. The spirit of this war is the spirit of a long-gone, different Europe. When large nations could start wars with their neighbors simply by feeling more powerful than them.

This breaks all the rules, this brings us back to the age of war, when the strong constantly prey on the weak, but this time in an era of weapons of mass destruction. Russia's behavior should terrify and should ring all the alarms no matter on which continent one lives.
