🌍🤝 Learning Across Communities, Building Stronger Futures.

What happens when communities learn from one another?

Under the #CONNECTProject , the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS), in partnership with @MbararaUST is bringing together community leaders and partners from Bidi Bidi Refugee Settlement in Yumbe and Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Isingiro for a peer-to-peer learning exchange.

The exchange brings together Community Advisory Board members, district leaders, religious leaders and partners to share experiences, identify what works, and explore how successful community-led approaches can be adapted across different contexts.

Officially flagged off by the @OPMUganda (OPM) Commandant, participants have visited communities in Nakivale, including Kasasa B Village, Base Camp and Katooma Village in Rugaaga Sub-county, engaging directly with communities and learning from their experiences.

The discussions are focusing on practical approaches to caregiver-adolescent communication on sexual and reproductive health, community engagement, accountability and safeguarding.

For URCS and @MbararaUST , this is more than an exchange visit. It is an investment in stronger community systems and local leadership, —creating space for communities to share knowledge, strengthen accountability, build partnerships and shape solutions that respond to their realities.

By connecting communities across refugee settlements, we are turning local knowledge into shared learning and shared learning into stronger action for safer, healthier and more supportive environments for adolescents and families.

"My 82-year-old mother was inside her home when the flood came", says Bishneu Pane.

In a matter of moments, raging floods of mud and debris, swept away homes, livelihoods, and loved ones in Nuwakot, northern Nepal. Bishneu is still searching for his mother.

The @NepalRedCross and @IFRC are on the ground with affected families and communities helping with relief, food, water, shelter, and much more. IFRC has released Disaster Emergency Funds (@IFRC_DREF) of CHF 999, 834 and has launched an Emergency Appeal to support Nepal Red Cross and people affected.

🇺🇬 Uganda Red Cross Society Kicks Off 2027 Annual Planning Process.

Yesterday, the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) kicked off its 2027 Annual Planning and Budgeting Process, bringing together leadership and teams to translate the organisation’s strategic priorities into clear, actionable plans for the year ahead.

The process is anchored in the URCS Strategic Plan 2026–2030, “Accelerating Sustainability,”with a focus on strengthening humanitarian impact, organisational sustainability, resource mobilisation, partnerships and accountability.

The planning process provides an important opportunity for teams across the Society to reflect on lessons from 2026, identify priorities and agree on measurable results, resource requirements and investments for 2027.

Together, we contribute to a stronger, more sustainable and more impactful National Society.
